ReRun: The Identify Shifts That Must Happen If You Want To Make A Career Change

With my career change clients, our first sessions often begin in the same way - they are concerned with not having the right experience, credentials or it being too late for a career change. In this episode I explain why your mindset shift needs to happen, and career change success stories from my clients that have put these steps into practice.
Summary:
1. Shifting your identity – when we have been working in an industry for a while, it is easy to connect who we are with what we do. Taking a step back to separate the two can help you evaluate your wider skills and interests, and opens up career possibilities.
2. Remember your expertise – the skills and experience you have gained in one area can almost always be applied in another. Remembering to leverage your strengths in the workplace, and personal strengths, will give you an edge and help you to stand out.
3. Understand and explain your value – take time to research and understand the objective of the organisation and role you are interested in. You can then prove how you can add value in this area using examples of achievements in your previous roles.
